I enjoy riding. There are several reasons but here's one.
FREEDOM
When i get out of the office to hit an open road, start the engine and hear the sound of my bike, and feel the wind blowing in a late afternoon, easy-cruising ride, one word comes to mind: FREEDOM. I'm not so sure, but maybe it's similar to what birds feel when they're flying, when fish swims, or when horses run in the wild.
When i'm cruising with my bike, I forget about deadlines. i forget about money. i forget about my long list of things to do. one feeling dominates: the feeling of FREEDOM. freedom to breathe, freedom to move, freedom to enjoy life as it is now- healthy and alive.
In times like this, i can not help but overflow with gratitude and thanksgiving to my God. God is so reach in mercy and grace. A sinner like me does not deserve freedom and enjoyment. Sinners (including myself) deserve punishment from a holy and righteous God. The Bible says, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Rom 3:23) and that "the penalty of sin is death". The point is clear: i am a sinner and i deserve to die. But i thank the Lord becuase the story does not end without a solution. here's the good news according to the Scriptures, "God demonstrated His love for us in this: while we were sinners Christ died for us... so that we may be reconciled to Him" (Rom 5:8ff).
I believe His Word and i accepted his love, mercy, and grace. now im free... not just free to ride and to enjoy life. but most of all, im free from the penalty of sin. I know that by His grace and love, He saved me and has set me free from sin and its penalty (eternal death in hell). Now, that is genuine FREEDOM.
