This particular ride was unique from the start. It started off with one invitation by a Pastor biker in Tarlac and ended with a ride that can be called a “rally” in some countries.
I’ll get right to it – on the day of the ride, there were 5 groups gathered, namely FaithRiders Manila, FaithRiders Tarlac, ByKings, SoulHunters & BroomBroomRiders. All in all there were a total of about 48 bikers with 3 backriders present for the ride. Mostly composed of sub4’s but the group was a totally mixed breed of bikes from all brands and all ages.
The day started off at around 830am. We headed to the Eco-Tourism park. It was a hot summer-type day and there was really nothing to do but chat for a while to pass the heat. New friendships were formed there and old ones rekindled. It was a good time for it on the viewdeck with the spectacular view of nature & mountainside surrounding Tarlac.
At around 1pm, we headed down to a sort of a retreat house ran by a couple with a great story to tell. That place too had a wonderful view of its surroundings and had a large spacious area for reflection if one ever wanted to stay there to ponder anything. We had lunch there and had a couple of public testimonies about God’s love and power. Personally I found it very interesting cause the group kept laughing at all the jokes and stories. It was a good highlight of the day.
By 3pm we headed to a place where heroes died – the memorial for the death march – Capas Shrine. My baby & I glanced at the wall where all the names of those who died were written in – lo and behold, we both have relatives who died there. I would think the readers of this article would find their family names there as well if ever they looked.
At 5pm we ended the day with a merienda at one of the bikers home (Thanks Emz & Ichtus) where we had palabok and maja blanca… YUM!
After that, everyone headed in their separate ways. But before I end my story, this is what I learned that day – that no matter how different we are, no matter what our bikes, no matter what personality differences we have, on that one day I saw God work His hand in the smallest of words and actions that planted seeds of curiosity in the hearts of the bikers who did not really know Him.
So, in all we were 48 bikers from 5 groups, riding to 4 destinations in 1 full day. It wasn’t your average ride. And I am so glad it wasn’t.
